A PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER (PLC) is an industrial computer control system that continuously monitors the state of input devices and makes decisions based upon a custom program, to control the state of devices connected as outputs.

• Accepts an input scan - scans the state of all inputs.
• Initiates a program scan - Executes the program logic ( defined by Gateway Fluid Power ).
• Initiates an output scan - Energize/De-energize the output signal(s).
• Performs any required housekeeping.

• Sensing devices.
• Switches and pushbuttons.
• Proximity switches.
• Limit switches.
• Pressure switches/transducers.
• Linear transducers.

• Valves - controlling the amount of fluid going to a component ( speed ).
• Valves - controlling the amount of pressure going to a component ( force ).
